An initial surge of sweet caramel and vanilla up front, which quickly gives way to classic dry, ashy peat smoke, sea salt, and soft seaweed.
Long and dry with subtle spice, mild medicinal notes, marzipan, and crisp lime.
For the Laphroaig Select, the Islay distillery has taken whisky from a number of different types of cask, including Oloroso Sherry butts, white American oak, Pedro Ximenez seasoned hoggies, Quarter casks and first fill bourbon casks. Quite a “selection”, wouldn’t you say?
